ABC Radio talks to QPRC CEO on high school project

25 February 2021 - Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council (QPRC) CEO Peter Tegart, joined Adam Shirley on ABC Radio this morning to talk about the NSW Department of Education's proposal for the new high school in Bungendore.

They discussed the Council's role in the project and clarified some of the processes. He confirmed that the proceeds from the sale of Council offices 'are entirely being utilised to build new community facilities' including a new council customer centre, a brand new eight-lane 25m outdoor pool by the 2022/23 season – ‘a pool that would not have happened without that commitment' [$5 million from the Department of Education] - a new library and a new community centre, in addition to the new sports hub already committed to.

‘The community facilities are many million dollars of investment. It’s a significant level of construction activity and investment in Bungendore in the next two years.’

The interview is available on the ABC Canberra link below. The interview starts at 50:40 in the recording of today's show (25 February).

Council is currently seeking community comments on the proposal to close Majara Street to allow the school to be developed in that area. Comments close on 3 March 2021 and can be made at: https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au/proposed-road-closure...
